Clinton and UFO – A presidential aspect

With Hillary Clinton”s presidential campaign wheezing, it would be logical to assume the New York senator would appreciate every endorsement she can get. But it ain’t necessarily so.

This weekend in Gaithersburg, Md., just outside the nation’s capital, the only registered congressional lobbyist advocating UFO disclosure hearings — Steve Bassett — is staging his annual X-Conference. Its keynote speaker is Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell, who has long pressed for declassification of government UFO data and has labeled the enduring cover-up as potentially “a case of criminal culpability.”

But undoubtedly the most annoying X-Conference speaker to a Clinton-bashing law firm called Judicial Watch is a guy named Grant Cameron.

CBS Labels Ron Paul a "Meaningless Fruitcake" With "No Chance" Of Winning

Despite a general begrudging acceptance amongst a large swathe of the corporate media that Ron Paul is a real contender for the Republican nomination following the hugely successful November 5th “money bomb” campaign, a CBS News op-ed piece today labels the Texas Congressman a “meaningless” “fruitcake” with “no chance” of winning.

The article is entitled Ron Paul, Fruitcake and its writer, Kevin Drum, attempts to make the point that anyone who even expresses an interest in the Congressman’s campaign is a “political infant” who needs to “grow up”.

In reality, it’s Drum who needs to grow up – his four paragraph whine reads like the literary equivalent of a baby throwing its toys out of a playpen.

“Ron Paul raised a buttload of money yesterday. This doesn’t really change anything, and everyone knows it, but I guess it’s something to write about. So people are writing about it,” seethes Drum.

“But look: can we stop pretending to be political infants, even if we happen to be bored this week? It’s cheap and easy to take extreme, uncompromising positions when you have no actual chance of ever putting them into practice, so Paul’s extreme, uncompromising positions really don’t mean a thing,” writes Drum.

“They’re meaningless, and I wish grown adults who know better would stop pretending otherwise.”

“Seriously, folks. Can we all please grow up?” he concludes.

The words of Officer Barbrady from South Park come to mind – “Nothing to see here folks. Move along…”

On what foundation does Drum claim that Congressman Paul’s campaign is irrelevant? His growth curve and fundraising is outstripping any other candidate from either party and bookmakers are slashing his odds of winning the Republican nomination left, right and center.

Granted, the average geriatric Giuliani supporter cited in telephone surveys is going to keep Paul’s poll digits low, but the fact that he routinely trounces the opposition in TV and Internet polls and has been widely lauded for shaking up the debates is hardly “meaningless” as Drum claims.

What’s really happening here is that, whether wittingly or unwittingly, the establishment minions are terrified that their perch on the peanut gallery can be so forcefully undermined by a grass roots rebellion against the stranglehold of the elite – who carefully screen presidential candidates year after year – ensuring only establishment lackeys ever have a chance of winning.

What the Ron Paul Revolution has created is bigger than whether or not Ron Paul will win the nomination in 2008.

This is about setting a benchmark and getting a foothold in an otherwise stage-managed and contrived electoral process, and having a candidate of the people front and center who the corporate media cannot possibly ignore.

In that sense, the Ron Paul phenomenon is far from “meaningless” and Kevin Drum is the one who needs to “grow up”, for his political infancy betrays a complete ignorance of what is taking place.

In addition, if Ron Paul is so “meaningless” then why is Drum, along with an army of other establishment media stooges and Neo-Con cult members, wasting his time in attacking the Congressman?

In the words of William Shakespeare, Methinks this CBS hack doth protest too much.

Presidential Debate Richardson and Kucinich on UFO.

What I found so fascinating and disturbing about the UFO flap during last week’s Democratic Presidential Debate in Philadelphia aside from Tim Russert’s predictable attempt to further marginalize and belittle Dennis Kucinich (especially considering Russert’s past powderpuff interviews with Cheney), was Russert’s oblique mainstream-media slapdown at what is one of the dominant themes of the 21st Century: the search for extraterrestrial life -a search that the combined governments of Europe, Asia, and North America are spending hundreds of $ billions to undertake.

Russert apparently was also unaware of the 2002 Roper Poll that showed approximately 70% of the American public believe the “Government does not tell everything it knows about UFOs and extraterrestrial life,” which lead us to the post-debate interview with Chris Mathews. In answering a follow up question to Russert’s grilling of Kucinich, Richardson pointed out to Mathews that while he doesn’t believe in UFO’s, he nevertheless pointed out that the US government has not disclosed the available documentation to make a final determination one way or the other. So Richardson confirmed that a government cover up of UFO documents is underway, and that he had personal experience of this while serving in government.

An incredulous Mathews asked Richardson, “Did you say the United States government is covering up a history of the UFO sighting in your state?” Richardson replied: “they [the government] don’t produce documents, Chris. They should just get it all out, and there’s a known history about this.”

Whether the UFO government cover up becomes an election issue or not will be a very interesting development to observe. Still, the fact that Richardson is now on the record is significant for those that have been arguing such a cover up for decades.

What will be even more interesting is how Hillary Clinton will eventually respond to the UFO question given Bill’s earlier interest in it, and unconfirmed reports that she participated in a UFO briefing by Laurence Rockefeller in 1995.

In an earlier town hall meeting in Round Rock Texas, Richardson was asked whether he would pledge to release files on the Roswell UFO crash. He responded, “”I remember I had my constituents ask me. I was the congressman and I said, ‘Well, Department of Defense, Los Alamos labs, what is this? What is the data you have?’” Richardson said the official reply was: “Oh, it’s classified.” He said: “That ticked me off.”

It’s fascinating that questions by Tim Russert and Chris Matthews to democratic candidates on UFO’s has brought out into the Presidential election the issue of the possibility of extraterrestrial life. My own take on all this is that great quote from Hamlet:

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

Millions Of Americans With Kucinich On UFO Belief

BOSTON (CBS) ― Do you believe in unidentified flying objects — UFOs? A third of Americans do. One in seven claims to have seen one.

And that group includes a presidential candidate.

A lot of voters might find this the most believable claim they’ve heard in this race.

But while politicians may laugh at UFO sightings, millions of Americans apparently aren’t in on the joke. 34 percent of Americans say they believe in ghosts, according to a pre-Halloween poll by The Associated Press and Ipsos. That’s the same proportion who believe in unidentified flying objects – or UFOs- exceeding the 19 percent who accept the existence of spells or witchcraft.

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich said he has seen a UFO, and he points out that, in more ways than one, he is not alone.

“You have to keep in mind that Jimmy Carter saw a UFO and also that more people in this country have seen UFOs than I think approve of George Bush’s presidency,” Kucinich said.

Despite millions believing in UFOs, this may have been a source of amusement for the political elites Tuesday night.

Massachusetts House Speaker Sal Dimasi said Wednesday night, “If by a UFO you mean an unexplainable phenomenon that flashes in, stays briefly, and leaves a mess in its wake, then yes, I have seen one — Mitt Romney.”

And Massachusetts State Treasurer Tim Cahill said he doesn’t believe in UFO’s, and if that means he’s out of touch with a third of the public, “I’ll take the other 67 percent,” he said. “That’s enough to get me re-elected.”

But who are you going to believe? Those guys or your own eyes?

Keep in mind, it’s government that consistently debunks a UFO phenomenon millions believe in.

And whatever you believe, believe this: that’s a sign of a major credibility gap.

Kucinich tells debate audience: I saw a UFO

Mike Aivaz and Nick Juliano
Published: Wednesday October 31, 2007

Dennis Kucinich’s presidential campaign is hardly being taken seriously by the major media in this country, and that fact was on full display Tuesday night when NBC’s Tim Russert took time from the Democratic candidates’ debate to ask Kucinich’s views on little green men.

Russert asked Kucinich about a recent claim by actress Shirley MacLaine, a longtime friend to the Ohio congressman, that he saw was very moved by an encounter with a UFO many years ago.

Kucinich acknowledged the encounter with a mysterious, hovering, triangular craft, but he left open whether he thought it was carrying space invaders.

“I did,” he said. “It was an unidentified flying object, OK? It’s like, it’s unidentified; I saw something.”

MacLaine wrote that Kucinich found the experience “extremely moving.”

“The smell of roses drew him out to my balcony where, when he looked up, he saw a gigantic triangular craft, silent, and observing him,” she wrote. “It hovered, soundless, for 10 minutes or so, and sped away with a speed he couldn’t comprehend. He said he felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind.”

At the debate, Kucinich joked that he was planning to move his headquarters to Roswell, New Mexico, the site of a suspected UFO crash.

Kucinich compared himself to former President Jimmy Carter, who also claimed to have seen a UFO, and he joked that there were more people in the US who have had a close encounter with a strange flying object than who approve of President Bush’s performance.

Dennis Kucinish admits seeing a U.F.O. during the debate

It cracks me up to read the YouTube comments after some of the videos. This is one made by a user that struck me. Kucinich is an honest man. I’m glad the question was asked, even if it was low and cheap.

FreeTalkLive says
Let’s see. You are a loon if you see a UFO but you are normal and sane if you talk (pray) to invisible gods.

Is that how it works?…lols

MSNBC: Libertarian Ron Paul has become ‘an Internet sensation’

MSNBC’s David Shuster marvelled on Tuesday that anti-war libertarian Rep. Ron Paul “has managed to develop a huge fan base online … especially among college students” in his bid for the GOP presidential nomination.

There are almost 30,000 Ron Paul videos on YouTube, and Paul has more than 64,000 friends on MySpace. Many articles about Paul on RAW STORY have received unusually high numbers of hits at story-recommending sites like Digg and Reddit, as well. (For example, Ron Paul: Republicans need Reagan’s courage, MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson invites Ron Paul to give ‘freedom tutorial’, and Ron Paul teams up with Dem candidate to end war.)

“I can’t explain it,” Paul told Shuster. “I’m bewildered but surprised and pleased as anybody else. But all I can say is maybe the message of liberty is very popular with young people.”

Paul said that if he had the kind of money the front-runners enjoy, he would use it to promote his message of a non-interventionist foreign policy and personal liberty. “We don’t need the Patriot Act, and we don’t need warrantless searches and we don’t need secret prisons,” Paul stated.

Paul said he would support the Republican nominee in 2008 only “if I can find one that’ll take the same position I have on the war, that we ought to end it and come home.” When asked what he would do with his growing support if he is not the nominee, he answered, “I guess the question is, what are they going to do with me?”

“They’ve sort of joined me spontaneously, and I’m delighted, but I would work hard to keep them together and to continue the process,” Paul continued. Though he cautioned that he had no interest in a third party candidacy, he emphasized that “this group of people now can be very influential. … I don’t think this is going to be just put away. I don’t think we can close these ideas off.”
