Changing attitudes

Hi all – It is interesting to note that there is a gradual shift taking place within the UFO community, (if you can call an aggregate jumble of disconnected and misinformed people a community).

Back in February I attended the UFO Congress in Laughlin, NV. I hadn’t attended the congress for the last few years because of all the “mis” and “dis” information that was being presented. However, I relented and went this time around due to some free time and the fact that here were some interesting presenters on the schedule.

I was pleasantly surprised. The large majority of speakers and the audience in general seemed to have a much more positive attitude toward contact work and more specifically, the need for raising our level of consciousness in order to make contact happen. It wasn’t a dramatic tidal wave of change of course, but it was definitely noticeable. A couple of factors may be in play with the reasons for this shift in perspectives. The UFO community may be coming to realization that much more can be accomplished by working together as a unified group.

Secondly, a subtle change or progression in the gestalt or group mind toward unity may finally be taking hold. A tiny example of the hundredth monkey effect, if you will.

There were still a few presenters focused on the abduction/fear mindset, but happily they were in the minority.

Another example of this shift in attitude is that our working group here in Arizona will shortly be conducting a CTS session with a few members of the Phoenix chapter of MUFON. They contacted me about doing a presentation at their next meeting and conducting a demonstration of the CSETI contact protocols for a night session. Their normal attendance for a meeting averages about 30 to 40. MUFON has, for the most part, shunned anything having to do with contact work or consciousness and meditation, preferring instead to just gather information on sightings and then filing it away. I was really taken back by their invitation.

We met with them and discussed what they wanted and our preferences about such an event. I recalled a presentation that Dr. Greer did at a Prophets Conference here in Phoenix a number of years ago. He led a CTS demonstration that night and it was not the best possible situation due to the fact that there were almost 90 people in attendance! It’s a very difficult task to try and get 90 people all on the same wavelength and working together after only an hour lecture and 20 minutes of preparation for meditation and the CTS protocols. Seating 90 people in five or six concentric circles around Dr. Greer on the cold ground with no chairs, no warm clothing, a stiff breeze, and no way to easily hear what he was saying proved to be a major hindrance in achieving anything that night. The only positive was that due to the nature of the conference, nearly all the people knew how to meditate.

In the case of our friends at MUFON, very few of them are meditators and any attempt to try and achieve a group mind dynamic with 30 – 40 inexperienced people would prove to be less than stellar, especially when none of them are CSETI members to boot. Luckily, the two co-chairs of the chapter are also meditators and have been very interested in CSETI and DP for some time. As a result, we have invited them to join our working group for the night which will bring our number to seven for that evening. The chances for contact are much greater with a small but focused group. We determined that this will be the best possible way to introduce them to our work and they can in turn inform the rest of the people in their group about the experience, with the possibility of doing a broader presentation and night session at a later date.

This brings me back to my statement about a shift in attitude. Both of these people have a very positive attitude toward contact work. One of them said that he was frustrated with MUFON in general because they seem content with the nuts and bolts of UFO sightings but are missing the bigger and more important picture. He knew that establishing contact on our own was the next step, but more importantly understood that it must be done without fear, without hidden agendas, and in a spirit of universal love and peace. This coming from a MUFON director! He came to this conclusion on his own without our prompting. In my opinion it’s a very hopeful sign that indeed, attitudes are changing for the better. Perhaps it’s only a few people at a time, but exponential growth from a positive experience is the goal.
