Letter: Government afraid UFOs may be friendly?

I recently read, with interest, the Jan. 9 column by Professor Dom Armentano. His comments concerning the UFO phenomenon and government coverup were, I felt, intelligently put forth and closer to the truth than any government would have us believe. However, Professor Armentano feels the government may be, in its infinite wisdom, trying to protect us. This is where we part ways.

When has this, or any other government, ever withheld information regarding a possible threat to its people? Rather, they use this information to justify expenditures on weapons and military buildups. A frightened populace is one more easily controlled.

In my opinion, the governments are afraid, nay terrified, that our visitors are friendly. Governments are big business that provide services and, in return, charge a fee in the form of taxes. If benevolent visitors were to provide us, with, say, enlightenment, then governments would lose control. This is simply not going to happen, not on their watch.

If logic is a universal theme, and our planet is a microcosm of the universe, then I hold this to be true, “A sinister and malevolent planet, a planet where the inhabitants constantly wage war and bicker with one another, (hmmm) would never be able to rise to a scientific level capable of interplanetary space travel, simply because of their willingness to self-destruct.”

It just seems logical that they are more likely to be friendly. Hopefully, one day we will know the truth.

It always brings a smile to my face when the government attributes a UFO sighting to “swamp gas.” The Latin word for swamp gas is ignis fatuus: English translation of ignis fatuus is to mislead or delude. Pretty clever, don’t you think?

Wow! This is definitively a breath of fresh air!
This is a comment from Joseph Burkes, who never misses an opportunity to underline the work of brave and true journalists.

Thank you so very much for publishing the letter by Bruce Martin

Government afraid UFOs may be friendly?

It is a breath of fresh air that your online newspaper has the courage and wisdom to publish Mr. Martin’s insightful comments about the presence of Et spacecraft visiting our planet and the obstacles to contact created by dysfunctional governments that exploit conflict. I urge you to continue to cover the UFO phenomenon and print responsible opinion pieces like those of Mr. Bruce Martin

Sincerely

Joseph Burkes MD
